Who runs this survey
The State of AI Delivery in South Africa survey is run by DayOne Builds (Pty) Ltd, trading as DayOne, of 4 Glenhurst Road, Welcome Glen, Cape Town 7975. DayOne is responsible for your information under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This notice sits alongside the DayOne Privacy Policy at dayone.build/legal/privacy-policy.
What we ask
The survey asks about how AI is being delivered in South African organisations: your role, your organisation's experience with AI projects, and what helps or holds delivery back.
Your name and contact details are optional. You can complete the whole survey without giving them. We ask for them only if you want to enter the prize draw or receive the DayOne newsletter.
How we use your answers
Your answers are used to produce the State of AI Delivery in South Africa 2026 report and related findings, such as discussion at the round table that closes the campaign. Results are published only in anonymised, aggregated form, and only in groups large enough that no individual or organisation can be identified. We never publish your name, your organisation's name, or any answer attributed to you.
Your choices
At the end of the survey you can choose, separately, to:
- enter the prize draw for R10,000. We use your details only to run the draw, under the competition rules at dayone.build/legal/competition-rules;
- receive the DayOne newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email; and
- receive a copy of the report;
- be considered for an invitation to the round table.
Each choice is optional and separate. Saying no to any of them does not affect how your survey answers are used.
Who sees your information
- DayOne, which runs the survey.
- Typeform, which hosts the survey form.
- An independent analyst engaged by DayOne, who analyses the results under a confidentiality agreement and only on DayOne's instructions.
No one else. The campaign's sponsors and our media partner, The Open Letter, never see individual answers or contact details. Sponsors receive only anonymised, aggregated results.
Your contact details are separated from your answers before the results are analysed.
Where it is stored
Typeform stores survey data on servers outside South Africa, including in the European Union and the United States, under data protection terms that give protection substantially similar to POPIA.
How long we keep it
We keep identifiable survey information for no longer than three years, then delete it or anonymise it so that it can no longer identify anyone. Anonymised results may be kept to compare findings in future editions of the survey. Newsletter subscriptions last until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to its use, or withdraw your consent at any time, by emailing our Information Officer, Liesel Bester, at liesel@dayone.build. Prize-draw records must be kept for three years under the Consumer Protection Act even if you ask us to delete them. You can also complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
Your consent
By completing the survey, you agree to your answers being used as described in this notice. Your choices about the prize draw and newsletter are made separately in the survey.
